Opinion on the movie "Measures of Men" ?

Posted under General

Hey y'all!

I've watched this movie called "Measures of Men" a few months ago. It's a movie about the german colonialism in former "Deutsch-Südwestafrika" (today's Namibia).

It plays around the late 1890s and early 1900s during the Herero and Nama genocide. It's about a ethnic-science Student that met a Herero Woman during the german Rasseschau in Berlin. He met her while measuring her Skull and body as part of the eugenics study. After meeting her a couple of time and talking to her she leaves with her group back to Namibia while he tries to make a case against the eugenic believe that the Herero people are inferior to the white europeans.

He gets a lot of backclash for his thesis. After the German genocidal campaign against the Herero and Nama started, his professor and one of his collegues were invited to go to Namibia and collect genetic information (inclouding the skull of Herero and Nama). After that student also volunteers they all go to Namibia. The student experiences a ton of emotions and a lot of traumatic shit as he tries to find the herero woman he desperatly wants to save. I don't want to spoiler the ending as this movie is a emotional rollercoaster.

Did any of y'all watch the movie too? If no, go watch it if you want a tragic-romantic historical movie to spend your evening with.

I havent seen that movie, but any movie made after 1945 in the west is going to have woke garbage or some propaganda (aka most movies) especially if it touches on race. doesnt mean you cant enjoy them though, it just means don't use them as an actual history lesson.
