How can i change general tags into artist and/or character tags?

I noticed some general tags that should be artist/character tags

if you have to change a small amount of posts then you can do it yourself manually

example: you want to make this tag: the_polbwcv2 an artist or editor tag so you do it like this: artist:the_polbwcv2 or editor:the_polbwcv2

otherwise if there are a lot like over 100 posts you do what @BillDoor said

what about new character tags? the same way or-?
