Do you prefer more or less tattoos on edits?

Posted under General

I generally prefer edits with less tattoos or ones in subtle/interesting places over edits where the entire body is covered with them. It might sound ridiculous, but I feel like adding too many just creates a bunch of visual noise that detracts from the image, while having less is more aesthetically pleasing and draws attention to the symbols themselves. I'm curious what you all think.

Hmm.. I like when there's a couple of big, elaborate tattoos all spaced out. Say for instance a full color/black and white back piece + a leg sleeve + something on the collarbone. Or a butt tattoo+ something on the upper back + two full sleeves. That's also kinda how I want to do my own tattoos.

Agree 100%. Tattoos can be hot, but when there's a lot of them it just looks trashy. Completely ruins it in my opinion.

As an editor I prefer going all out, else I feel like I barely modified the image. As a consumer it depends, I still favour pics with a lot of tattoos, so long as there's clear effort put into the placement, blending and warping

More. This is partially because editors who do more tattoos just have more skill at it. I'd still say even assuming good placement etc. more tattoos would be better. But if one pic is just a girl with a swastika on every inch of her skin and the other is a girl with actual nice tattoo designs like an actual human girl would want, the latter will be better.

It actually matters way more on what the tattoos are than how much. I see plenty of "tattoos on every body part" that look nice, then ones that just look trash because of what tattoos they are. The tattoos that are like just sperm for example look bad, same with many of the word ones.

I prefer more tattoos, especially large ones that wrap around the body and have darker hues that match the character's color scheme. Also love bleached tattoos that aren't in your face or obvious at first glance, absolutely love the charm of something a lil' more subtle!

Honestly yeah, the word/number ones can be fine despite being text but stuff like a dick or a sperm/egg tattoo just feels gross. And it's even out of place feeling on this site when you see the former.

Agreed. The ones that are just blocks of text or oversized symbols on the breasts or ass just look bad 90% of the time. Some places just look better without tattoos on them.

Honestly depends on the image in question being edited - typically I see absolutely covering girls in them ( where their more or less red up to their neck ) as rather lazy and uninspired , there's 100s of edits like that and they all blend together after a while *however* there are editors like jamesK that use a fuck ton of tattoos but know exactly when and where to use them to make their edits pop ( I just wish half his edits weren't on white women. )

I think the most ideal outcome would be just for bleached artists to post variants/child posts ( Minimal tattoos vs Maximum Tattoos ) as ultimately it means more edits for more people to enjoy.

I like this idea. No matter what someone's preferences are, there's something for everybody and the booru has more content.
