GIMP is probably your closest free photoshop alternative but I've found it to be hard to learn and unintuitive. Krita is a pretty good option if you don't intent to do very advanced editing.
Random question, other than checking the "template", is there a way to know when the folder's been updated? Coz there's no way (that I know of) to search "recently added" in MEGA for the whole archive to see what's new. I don't want to look through each and every folder for one tattoo added. So basically is there some kind of way to be notified the folder's been updated every time the archive is updated?

The mega is very slow to be updated. You're better off just following the template tag here on the booru
