Generally i think egirl is used as a slur, not something apealing from what i hear, but yea, the egirl look is the only good thing and it's 90% filters and makeups.

well this topic has gone off the rails but I don't think it's going back anytime soon so,
I think Flamberge pretty well summed up why I don't get the appeal or dislike them in that they're just fake as fuck because the fantasy of them is such horse-crap. Women for the most part ( ignoring outliers like tomgirls and such ) are inheritely social creatures, the idea that a bombshell 10/10 woman would not only be an anti-social, socially akward capital G Gamer is simply outlandish to put it lightly. Much less would a relatable " girl-failure " as they've come to be known put effort into dolling herself with makeup just to sit on her ass and play the same handful of competitive shooters all day ( the lack of video game variety is a rant for another day, every " girl-gamer " i've come across plays like the exact same 10 most popular games of whatever that year is and nothing else )
Gamer-girls in general just aren't as appealing as internet losers tend to make them out to be - the best case scenario you get is a tomboy that only plays as a hobby for a couple hours a day and actually plays real games ( not free to play trash like valorant/OW or competitive games like R6 & LoL that were ruined a long time ago ) but most of the time gamer girls tend to be masculine gay women that aren't attractive at all to the common man often being as unhealthy as the fools that idealise them with sub-par looks.
That being said pretty much any real egirl is either a pick me or a walking honey trap using their good looks to prey on insecure men in order to rake money from them through only fans or pretending to be their " online girlfriend " to get free shit out of them like power on their server ( that they won't do anything with or just abuse when they're bored and can't text their friends ) while she laughs looking at the money go up on her banking app before slipping into bed with chadthunder cock ready to be plowed.

I don't get the appeal of the fantasy - gaming is just a hobby, an unattractive one at that why is it so hot/sexy a woman does it?

I second the post above as a very unattractive, tomboy (trying to be more feminine) gamer. I used to talk to guys (brothers, cousins, coworkers etc of friends) who told me they "LOVED" gamer girls but physically recoiled when I told them I gamed (mostly on PS)

True, however theoretically it's possible for extreme life circumstances to create an attractive female who is a legit introverted gamer. I knew of one that was that way for years because she was an orphan then got in accident that made it so she couldnt walk for a while, as well as became mute. But yea, outside of extreme life circumstances that force it, no attractive girl will end up that way, especially now with social media and discord.

when it comes to anime i wouldn't really call them " posers " the same way i would " alt-girls " or a lot of " Egirls " unless they watch it dubbed ( learn to fucking READ! ) , normally if you introduce them to good anime they'll watch and enjoy it.
Though I do agree that sometimes " Gatekeeping " is fine if it keeps idiots or undesirable people out of your hobby, I hate english dubs because they turn a lot of people away from anime just from cringe voice acting that makes my ears bleed and line changes that completely annihilate the original meaning of the dialog but whenever I tell a super gay lefty type ( as a word of advice ) to watch in subbed they'll claim i'm " gatekeeping " as a lazy excuse instead of telling me " i'm self sabatoging my anime experience because i'm too lazy to read " which is what they actually mean.

Yeah you happen to be fucked over in 2 ways that being the fact both of those things ( girl gamer & tomboy ) are fetished online with the reality being uglier than the dream - most guys who say they're " tomboy enjoyers " just mean they like girls with " short " ( ear length or shoulder length ) hair that share a few masculine interests ( like cars or sports ) rather than real tomboys who they'll often turn down for being too masculine and pass up assuming that they're just lesbians.
As for gamer girls, ( assuming they have an ACTUAL games library and not just esports and free to play titles ) guys will say they like it ( thinking about the fetishised version ) then quickly jumpship when they realise it means dating a girl with all the negative habits and sterotypes that guy-gamers have.

So metal posers mainly listen to Slipknot? I guess they look edgy, but I would kind of expect Metallica here somehow. It's bit sad that some bands have kind of bad reputation because of being unlucky. I think sort of same stuff happens with Nickelback and people make fun of them. I don't really follow their whole discography, but I used to listen them a lot in radio when "How you remind me" was popular and it made me listen to their other songs too. Though if I could drag a bit more this off topic because of my cousin my music taste was probably saved. To this day I remember his words when around 14 years ago he told me to not shut in for other genres because I fall in love with Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock setlist.

I like dubs, sure sometimes they will do a woke line or two in an anime, but 95% of the time it's fine. If yiu really care just watch subbed for the bad ones. As for making it normie, netflix anime and the like did far more than dubs ever did. We've had dubs for decades.
