I'm british so it hardly effects me but I'm happy trump won because it at least means we'll get another 5 years of memes - hopefully it also means all the insane toxicity around politics will die down when the demonic orange man can no longer run ( though i get the feeling that now trump has set the bar every right wing candidate moving forwards will have to deal with this insane amount of backlash since I don't see the media stopping their campaign anytime soon and online leftism has gotten too far ( will literally hate you for disagreeing with 1 lefty opinon )

America does has a bad habit of putting it's industries in other countries as an excuse to say we need them. For example, microchips in taiwan, or some military stuff in israel.

Because the American business owner wants all of the benefits that come with having overseas production and care little for the downsides associated with it. Not that it will matter soon since we will have to drag our industry back stateside if Trump's proposed China tariffs go into full effect

The fact that the west just decided to abolish tariffs, when america was litteraly found on it, and all of the east asian countries have it was just so wierd. We tax companies when they make stuff here, via corprate tax, but then dont tax them when they make their stuff in other countries, by getting rid of tariffs? Who thought of such a stupid idea. It's not even an ideological thing, if you are a leftist socialist that wants to tax corporations, sure ud have corprate tax, but youd also have tariffs to tax the companies that offshore to avoid ur taxes, ud think. Meanwhile if you are an an-cap libertarian, ud want no tariffs, sure, but also no corprate tax too, then. Somehow we got the worst of both worlds.
