Aggressive modding?

Posted under General

Is it just me or has there been quite a bit of aggressive modding lately?
Mainly from this one moderator who's only been a member on the site for a month before being appointed a moderator, user #13352

Is this a change in the site's direction to really crack down on... well all commenting it seems like, or just one moderator with a sensitive trigger finger?

I have noticed this site cracking down on erp a lot more lately. One of my comments got deleted by that very mod infact (I was posting cringe erp so I feel it is somewhat fair) as for now I can't really say my opinion on it but it's not just you, there has been some noticeable changes lately in how moderation is being done

The thing that mainly rubs me the wrong way is when that mod in particular edits other peoples comments to correct their grammar or add little hostile notes because he does not like what was posted. It feels like unnesecary flexing of your moderator muscles especially when he could just have posted a reply

I've seen a bunch of this too, it was the first sign I caught that alarmed me that something was happening in the first place actually.

It's not a change in the site's direction; erp comments were always against the rules, but the moderators couldn't be bothered to actually delete them because of the sheer number of comments like that, so the owner appointed him to take care of those.

I get that worshipping BWC is all in the spirit of bleached, but did you guys really have to come in here riding his dick that hard? you can let up a little bit you know...

I don't think @Nigbreaker is that out of line for merely observing a change in how moderation has been done the past few days and then asking about it here on the forums.

Commenting something along the lines of 'F-fuck it's so massive~ I can feel it flooding my womb~' is one step above just being a spam comment. I commend our Super Jannies for finally cleaning it up around here.

I get that and I agree. I actually really like the fact that this site is getting better at enforcing it's rules and clearing out that sort of spam. My issue was more with how you choose to enter the discussion. But I too commend our jannies for the work done recently as I would rather have hyperactive mods than inactive ones. But I think there is stuff to critique here too so let's not devolve the conversation.

Rude posts like this one both getting through moderation and being sometimes sent even my moderators is kinda the whole point of the thread.
I don't even agree that all the posts that have been getting purged have been strictly RP'ing either, there's a difference between cringe RP'ing in the comments and posting pseudo captions and plain being flirty talking about the themes of the pic. This arguably over-the-top aggressiveness in moderation actually discourages people to post and be talkative on the site because users will come to expect they'll just get moderated anyways whether it's warranted or not.

I can't help but get the impression the new moderators have been overly aggressive and quite rude about how they handle things.
...I mean, I know this is a website for fetishizing white supremacy and all, but that's no reason to be assholes to each other outside of fiction and friendly banter.

I appreciate this thread being made and I'll merely post my own perspective.

I was appointed a mod/jannie/hall monitor/whatever you wanna call it after repeated discussions were had in the Booru discord about the volume of spammy RP comments, with me volunteering to be tough on those because I agree, they're annoying and against the site rules. I've stuck to that mentality because the fact is the majority of Bbooru users are either passive consumers or weirded out by these types of comments which discourages more level conversation.

I understand that by the mere merit of this being a porn site featuring heavy raceplay, it might seem counterintuitive to be tough on comments gooning or roleplaying about just that. If a rule change were to come through allowing these types of interactions then I'll put my hands up and say ''alright, you're the boss.'' But for the time being, roleplay comments, soliciting ERP and the types of comments you'll regret typing when you're done wanking are against the sites' rules.

The way I see it, if being tough on these types of interactions for a while discourages people from doing it in the comments, let alone getting them to go to the forums to look for ERP/sexting buddies which is the designated place for it, then I've done a good job because that's what the admin team wants out of the site long-term.
I admit we can do a better job clarifying the rules and what is and isn't ''cringe ERP'', as Nordic so aptly put it, can definitely be a bit of a blurry line, but I actually tend to err on the side of side-eyeing and going ''alright, carry on'' when it's on that borderline.

As for the editing comments, I agree. That's childish on my end and I've been rightfully slapped on the fingers for it, I won't do that anymore going forward.

I don't know why the person who made that (admittedly hilarious) Fate rant was banned, I'd have to ask the staff member in question why. Wasn't me though, hand on my heart.

If you feel I deleted a comment of yours unfairly, I'm completely fine having a conversation about it. I'm not some anonymous bully just cleaning house and looking down on the plebians below me, absolutely not. Hit me with a DM and I'll explain my rationale, and we can see where things go from there.

I generally agree with this perspective, and as for the fate rant, the guy should've been banned but only for like a day, cause it was hilarious to have a mod do that because of that reason, so the laugh was worth it., but i dont think he broke any rules

This is a very mature and transparent reply. Thank you! It actually does soothe me to hear you put it into words like that. We all want this community to be the best it can be so it's good that you own up to mistakes and clarify your own thought process.

From what I understood from the rules when I read them (and this must of been many months ago), RP in comments was kind of in a grey area where it wasn't technically allowed but it wasn't prohibited per say and the mods reserved the right to ban when they deemed it necessary. I'm pretty sure it was fairly recently were the rules explicitly mentioned it wasn't allowed. So it makes sense to me that some people haven't caught up to the rule change. I do think some of the recent bans are unecceserly severe and might cause people to become resentful. But hey, maybe it's for the benefit of the site in the long run.
